I've been feeling pretty useless lately since I've not been feeling well. But I have managed a few things. I've finished the base for [livejournal.com profile] kiwiria's dreamcatcher, now I'm looking for book jacket art for the titles she would like. I've started the base for [livejournal.com profile] walkertxkitty's custom. And I've finally given this guy
 a home of sorts.

I haven't listed him yet, mostly due to feeling fairly worn down. So, not completely useless, just mostly. ;)

I love the cooler months with all the opportunities for cuddling. Here's a celebration of those winter months. I wrapped a 5-inch ring with a baby blue thread and webbed it with a metallic pearl thread. I wove 6 iridescent beads into the webbing and then scattered 6 glittery snowflakes across the webbing. I finished it off with a white ribbon for hanging purposes.

Often in life we have to follow a set path to get the treasure we're reaching for, this dreamcatcher helps us remember to keep our eyes on the prize and our feet on that path. Shades of blue cover the ring and form the webbing. Aquamarine bicone glass beads spiral into the center and a dark blue thread shows us the way to the center where the glass heart shines.

I came across the heart and knew that it had to be the treasure at the end of a journey so I went looking for something that I could wind into a path. An isle or two over I found these beads that were a perfect match. I played with the way I wanted to thread them into the web to achieve a path like look. I wanted a spiral path because in folklore the spiral path is often the road between everyday life and the magical. Finally reaching your goals and having your dreams in hand should always be a moment of magic for you. Once I had the webbing complete and the heart hanging from the center I felt that it was missing just one little detail. I wanted to make the path a bit more defined so I worked a dark blue thread into the webbing and wound it down the path to the center of the dreamcatcher. I'm really happy with how it leads to the center, like coming to a clearing in the forest that has exactly what you need.
